Challenging Our Champions

Ethan A. Chase Middle School (EACMS) is known as the “Home of the Champions.” The spirit of this slogan stems from our core value that teachers and staff will champion for our students’ futures by providing them with the highest quality education in preparation for high school and college. At Ethan A. Chase, students are taught to be champions for themselves and each other. Students are encouraged to be champions  on and off the field as they win trophies and awards for doing their best in all facets of their educational career.

In order to champion for our students’ academic advancement we have included advanced coursework in Language Arts, Math and Electives. In Language Arts we offer 7th and 8th Grade Honors. In Math we offer Pre-Algebra in 7th Grade and Algebra 1 in 8th Grade. Electives offered at Ethan A. Chase include Advanced Drama, Technical Theater, Advanced Art, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. In 2017, we became one of two middle schools in Riverside County to offer an Advanced Placement (AP) class at the middle school level with the introduction of  our AP Spanish program.

Our AP Spanish program students are provided with the same exam taken by high school students. The exam is created by the College Board and is honored by all UC’s, CSU’s and most major universities. Passing an AP exam with a score of 3-5 provides students with college credit before they even step on a high school campus. The advantage for these students and their families is the time and tuition that they will save in college. The success rate for our AP program has been high in its  first two years. In 2017-18 we had 17 students enrolled and 15 passed and on 2018-19 we had 18 students enrolled and all 18 passed!

The success of our advanced coursework has contributed to the success of our students as they move to the high school level as well. The majority of our students attend Heritage High School where the last two Valedictorians promoted from Ethan A. Chase and the current number one ranked student also promoted from Ethan A. Chase.

The future is definitely bright for the students of Ethan A. Chase as we strive to be academic champions!
