December Kindness Shines Bright with 12 Days of Kindness
As we approach 2020, let’s share the true meaning of the holidays by displaying kindness, generosity, and good cheer. As part of the Riverside County Office of Education’s Million Deliberate Acts of Kindness initiative, the traditional holiday carol has been rewritten as the “12 Days of Kindness.”
The 12 Days of Kindness can start anytime during December, but completing the 12 kindness acts on consecutive days is highly encouraged. All acts are simple to perform, little to no costs, and take minimal time to complete. By performing all kindness acts over a 12-day period, the goal is kindness will become a habit.
“As the year winds down, and as the holiday season rolls in, create a kind moment for someone, anyone, even yourself, through a purposeful act of kindness,” commented Dr. Judy D. White, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools. “Purposeful acts are a decision, a habit, a practice. Something you must decide to do beforehand. It’s a decision. And decisions made day after day turn into habits. And habits influence the way our lives turn out."
For those energetic elves who complete all 12 acts of kindness, please log them on the RCOE kindness counter! If you’re also a musical elf, please feel free to sing the “12 Days of Kindness” and tag RCOE on twitter or use #KindnessRivCo! Let’s make kindness a habit and spread good cheer this holiday season!
The Riverside County Office of Education started the Million Deliberate Acts of Kindness campaign to increase awareness while promoting and inspiring a positive school culture and healthy communities throughout Riverside County. RCOE will advocate and measure one million deliberate acts of kindness by students, staff, and the community at large.
