Ensuring School Safety For All

Romoland School District is committed to ensuring student and staff safety district-wide. Safety efforts and initiatives are being implemented successfully at every campus and the district office, including how to prepare in the case of a natural disaster.  

On October 17th, 2019, all school sites will participate in the Great ShakeOut along with thousands of other schools and organizations across the globe. The drill is focused on how to respond during a The Great ShakeOut. Get ready to Shake Out: Drop, Cover, Hold On on October 17, 2019 major earthquake that could potentially cause catastrophic damage and injuries to staff and students. After the drill, the command centers meet to analyze procedures for areas of improvement as part of the reflection effort to enhance safety at each individual site. Earthquakes can strike at any time, the Great ShakeOut drill provides an opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes and helps our community be ready to respond and recover quickly in the event of an emergency. 

In addition to monthly safety drills including  fire and lockdown drills, all sites have implemented the Raptor Technologies system to improve safety by screening visitors and volunteers at all school buildings. Raptor Technologies, Welcome visitors poster with instructions to report to the main office during each site visit. All school visitors must present identification such as a driver’s license which will pass through a scanner. In just a few seconds, the Raptor System will perform a criminal background check and search through national databases to identify anyone who might present a danger to students. Once entry is approved, visitors will be given a badge to be easily identified as volunteers on campus. 

Romoland School District is driven by the desire to keep students and staff safe by continually making improvements in everything we do to ensure preparedness should an emergency arise.
