Attendance Awareness Month
Build the Habit of Good Attendance this September during Attendance Awareness Month!
No matter what school looks like this year, our district’s pledge is to create a culture of achievement for every student, every day! Today, school attendance is showing up and participating. We know that attendance and participation are directly linked to student achievement and success. All of us here at Romoland School District are dedicated to ongoing communication, support and encouragement around the importance of showing up.
-
In the elementary years, children who miss school are more likely to struggle academically and, in later years, to dropout entirely.
-
In the secondary years, attendance is the No. 1 predictor of dropout and graduation rates.
-
Attendance is a top indicator of being on track for graduation and for college and career readiness.
-
Nearly 67% of course failures were attributed to low attendance.
Although there are times when your child cannot participate, it’s important to keep in mind that missing just a couple of days a month can have a severe impact on your child’s success. If there are issues preventing your child from connecting and participating, please reach out to your teacher, principal or school staff to discuss any concerns so we can help.
