Harvest Valley Elementary: Serving Students and the Community
Harvest Valley is a community school and our mission is one of empowering our students and their families. Our strength comes from our student’s, family’s, and staff’s strong sense of connection and community. Together we focus on educating the “whole child,” which includes students’ academic, emotional and social skills.
To accomplish our mission we develop personalized learning plans with students that include individual goal setting activities that are connected to customized support to best meet their specific needs. As an AVID elementary school, our students also benefit from the use of organizational tools such as student planners and agendas that help them stay organized and focused on their goals. AVID also emphasizes academic rigor, which aligns with our school and district’s emphasis on college and career readiness.
In addition to a focused academic support system, we work hard to build positive social and emotional connections between our students, community, and our school. At Harvest, students can be seen singing, dancing, and cheering each other on as they are recognized for their achievement and growth at our monthly Flag Salute and Awards Ceremony. In addition, students are provided with a variety of activities including schoolwide student-led ASB events, such as dances and family festivals, as well as counselor organized programs and events like our peer support group the “Helpful Hawks” and “CEO Day.”
Thanks to our dedicated staff members, Harvest also offers the chance to participate not only in Science and History Day, but also in special evening programs such as Family Math Night, the Dr. Seuss Literacy Evening, and in sports and clubs including dance, football, and coding, just to name a few. Thanks to our unified learning community, Harvest Valley is a great place to be a student!
