Foster and McKinney-Vento Resources

Romoland School District understands that our students identified as foster youth or McKinney-Vento have distinctive needs. In addition to the resources listed on our Community Resources page, we have compiled the following resources and supports specific to these populations. 

Cal-FURS - Family Urgent Response System is a 24/7 support service for foster youth and caregivers aimed at preserving the relationship between child and caregiver. Flyers in multiple languages can be found below.

iFoster - provides resources through partnerships with companies, government agencies, and non-profits nationwide. Free and deeply discounted products and services are available to meet various needs.

Extended Foster Care (EFC) Program - allows eligible youth in the child welfare and probation systems to remain in foster care until age 21 and extends Kin Guardianship Assistance Payments (Kin-GAP) and Adoption Assistance Payments (AAP) up to age 21 for eligible youth.

California Youth Connection - a youth-led organization that works to positively impact foster youth, ages 14-24, as well as enact political and legislative change. 

Operation SafehouseSpanish - provides emergency shelter, intervention, and outreach services to runaway, homeless or other youth in crisis.

Oak Grove Center - offers an Independent Living Program (ILP) with informative workshops, mentoring, and care management. Visit their website for more information or call their 24-hour hotline: 800-391-9601

Foster Bridge Program - a childcare program for families with foster youth. Please contact them for more information regarding eligibility and the application process.

Voices for Children - a non-profit organization that recruits, trains, and supports Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers for children in foster care. 

Warm Centers - the County of Riverside Community Action Partnership has compiled a list of warm center locations where individuals and families can get relief from the cold weather.

Farmer's MarketSpanish - individuals and families can use EBT and WIC benefits at selected Farmers Market locations. Please check the flyer for locations and hours. 

Birth Certificate/Photo ID - Individuals and families experiencing homelessness are eligible for a one-time fee waiver to secure their birth certificate or California photo ID. Please click on the click for more information.

Safe Families for Children - Olive Crest's program provides a Safe Home for children when parents/guardians are experiencing a crisis and need a safe place for their children. Visit their website or click here for more information.

Safe Family Justice Centers - an organization that provides services and resources to individuals who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, child/elder abuse, and youth at risk. They also provide a Foster Advocacy Program that provides case management and referral assistance.

California Family Life Center - an organization that provides services to foster families and youth homes, job education centers, kinship support, and chaplaincy. Please visit click here for more information about Kincare Services

RIV Office on Aging - In addition to providing resources to caregivers of elder family members, they also have a program "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren." Please visit their website for more information.
