Romoland School District is excited to announce the appointment of three accomplished educators to key leadership roles.
Boulder Ridge Assistant Principal
Boulder Ridge Elementary School Assistant Principal, Mrs. Angie Rose, joins the Romoland School District after a remarkable 33-year career in education. Angie's journey in education began in Chula Vista Elementary School District, where she taught bilingual Kindergarten and First Grade before becoming a K-6 Reading Specialist with a focus on early literacy. Her work as a Reading Coordinator for the San Diego County Office of Education further strengthened her expertise in supporting young learners. She also spent 17 years in San Jacinto, where she excelled as a middle school math/science teacher and later as a Dean of Students.
Angie is thrilled to return to her passion for elementary education and is eager to contribute to Romoland’s efforts in developing strong literacy skills among students. With her extensive background, Angie is poised to make a lasting impact on the district’s future.
Director of Pupil Services
Director of Pupil Services, Matthew Valdivia, is another welcome addition to the Romoland School District leadership team. With 30 years of educational experience in California, Matthew has built a distinguished career through a variety of roles, starting as a middle school history-social science teacher. Over the years, he has served as a head coach, academic decathlon coordinator, department chairperson, administrative designee, and summer school principal. His leadership experience extends to both the middle and high school levels, where he held roles as Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Most recently, Matthew served as a Coordinator of Child Welfare and Attendance.
Matthew is eager to bring his vast experience and passion for building strong relationships to Romoland, particularly because of his deep connection to the community. A lifelong resident of the Pass Area, he sees many parallels between Romoland and his hometown of Beaumont. His focus on supporting students and their families through building meaningful connections aligns with two quotes that resonate with him: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” by Maya Angelou, and “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” by John Maxwell.
Matthew looks forward to fostering an environment where every student feels supported and valued, working alongside Romoland’s dedicated staff to ensure success for all.
Director of Special Education
Mrs. Candace Boulais continues her exceptional work with the Romoland School District in her new role as Director of Special Education. With 18 years in the field, including six dedicated to Romoland, Candace has held various positions that reflect her dedication to fostering inclusive and supportive educational environments. She has served as a special education teacher, high school administrator, and coordinator of special education, always with a focus on student success.
Candace is passionate about ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive, and her leadership will further the district’s mission to support all learners. As she steps into her new role, Candace looks forward to building on her past successes and leading efforts to create even more inclusive practices districtwide.
