At Granite Hills TK-8, ELOP Aide Karina Barraza brings joy, creativity, and genuine care to her work with students each day. For the past two years, Karina has been a dedicated source of support and encouragement, helping students feel welcomed, valued, and confident.

Colleagues describe Karina as a “true champion” for the students in her care, who consistently puts their needs first. Her energy and creativity shine through in the engaging enrichment activities she creates, helping TK and kindergarten students feel excited, valued, and connected. She works to create an environment where students know they are cared for, supported, and celebrated.

For Karina, the most rewarding part of her role is being a source of support and encouragement for children. Their smiles, laughter, and “silly little moments” bring her joy each day, while watching students learn, grow, and gain confidence makes her work especially meaningful.

Karina hopes to be a positive influence for both students and staff, helping create a joyful community where everyone feels seen. She credits the Granite Hills team for creating a caring, supportive environment, saying, “It truly takes a village to create a positive, supportive environment for our kids.”
