Shining Star: Jay Greenberg

Romoland School District is proud to recognize Jay Greenberg, Middle School Computer Science and Physical Education Teacher at Hillside Innovation Academy (HIA), as this month’s Shining Star. With an impressive 28 years of service in RSD, Jay’s dedication, positivity, and commitment to student success continue to make a lasting impact across the school community.

HIA Principal, Lilly Ellefsen, describes Jay as a dependable and hardworking team member who consistently goes above and beyond! Whether supporting students or stepping in to assist other teachers and staff members, Jay is always willing to lend a helping hand. His strong work ethic, ability to get things done, and upbeat, fun energy make him an invaluable part of the HIA team.

In addition to his role in the classroom, Jay serves as a Site Instructional Leadership Team (SITL) member and National History Day (NHD) Coordinator, further demonstrating his commitment to enriching student experiences and supporting academic growth. His passion for education is rooted in the relationships he builds and the progress he witnesses over time. Jay shares that the greatest joy in teaching is “seeing the growth in students over the years and having them come back to say hi,” a testament to the lasting influence he has on those he teaches.

Jay also values the collaborative culture within Romoland School District, crediting his colleagues for helping him grow both professionally and personally. In turn, he strives to foster a safe, compassionate environment where students feel supported and empowered to achieve both personal and academic success.

After nearly three decades of service, Jay remains deeply appreciative of the Romoland community, sharing gratitude for the trust and support families provide to educators in shaping the lives of their children.

We are grateful for Jay Greenberg’s continued dedication, leadership, and positive spirit. Congratulations, Jay, and thank you for being a true Shining Star!
