Dear Parents/Guardians and Students!
Hello, my name is Mrs. Hannah Garcia and I am the School Counselor at Romoland Elementary School. I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino in 2013 with my BA in Theatre Arts. After graduating I did some career exploration and landed in the field of education where I found my passion for working with students. I recently graduated from the University of Redlands with my MA Ed. in School Counseling. I worked as a school counseling intern throughout my two-year master’s program and was a resident substitute teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District prior to that. I am thrilled to be a part of the Romoland family and look forward to working with all of our students.
What is a school counselor?
A school counselor is a counselor and educator who works in schools to address the social-emotional, academic, and college and career needs of all students. The role of the school counselor is to counsel, consult, and collaborate with students, parents/guardians, staff, administration, and other stakeholders to ensure that all students have access to a comprehensive school counseling program.
All students will receive core curriculum lessons in their class once per month. Short-term individual and group counseling services are available to students in need. ‘Need’ is determined by attendance, academic, and behavior data as well as self, teacher, or parent referral. Should a student/family have a greater need for services, the school counselor will provide information/referral for additional school and community resources.
