Together with Mr. Felipe, we manage the Alternative Education classroom for Romoland School District, often referred to as The Academy. It is our pleasure to be operating from Harvest Valley Elementary School, where our students have the chance to lead while they learn and grow together. This is a setting designed for students whose needs are not being met at the traditional school site. We offer very small class sizes, one-to-one attention and individual learning paths for each of our students. What this means for our students is that each day they have access to the most appropriate lesson for THEM in each of the subjects they take. Currently available classes are:
Math: 6th grade Math, 7th grade Math, Algebra I, Geometry I, Consumer Math, and Integrated Math
English: 6th grade English Language Arts, 7th grade English Language Arts, and 8th grade English Language Arts
Science: Earth and Space Science, Life Science, Physical Science
Social sciences: U.S. History, World History, Civics, and Geography
While these courses are available through PLATO, we also use I-Ready for supplemental instruction in Reading and Mathematics as well as NEWSELA for writing instruction and feedback. Together, these classes and programs can offer Academy enrolled students the opportunity to receive instruction at their level (whether remedial, at grade level, or accelerated) in an effort to provide them with the most appropriate material possible.
