Mrs. de Sousa

Well this year sure looks different! With everything going on in the world, I wanted to provide you with a sense of "normality" as best that I can. First day of school is Thursday August 6, 2020. While I cannot wait to see everyone, I understand that things might change before then. Please check out our district website for the most up to date information about how schools will operate this year. In the meantime, you can read a little bit about me below:

I am very excited about the upcoming 2020 - 2021 school year (regardless of how it may look different than other years) and the opportunity to work with you as your fifth grade teacher at Mesa View Elementary School. I am a graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching at University of Southern California (USC). This is my sixth year teaching in the Romoland School District. Previously, I have taught overseas in Taiwan and in several districts within the LA area. I am extremely proud to be a Mustang, working with some of the best students in the country!

During my time at Mesa, I have become a master screencastifier, google certified educator, and the 2019 IACUE Emerging Teacher of the Year. My three years' participation in our district's units of study team led me to an amazing opportunity where I worked with fellow educators around the world developing and editing test items that appear at the end of the year state exams. I am currently continuing to bring the best practices to our scholars by staying connected with educators on social media platforms such as twitter.

Teaching and learning is my passion and drive. I wholeheartedly believe in the "whole child" when it comes to education. As such, I want to ensure to the best of my ability that your child feels welcomed, safe, and respected whenever they are in my class. Please contact me if you have any comments, questions, or concerns. You can email me here

Your teacher,

Mrs. de Sousa
