Student Transfers
Overview & Procedures
The Romoland School District (RSD) offers 2 types of transfers. Approval for both is a conditional privilege based on school capacity and student standing.
I. Choose Your Transfer Type
1. Intradistrict Transfers
For families living WITHIN Romoland School District boundaries who want to attend a different RSD school.
-
Requirement: Students must be fully registered and enrolled at their school of residence before a transfer request can be processed.
-
How to Apply: All requests must be submitted through the Aeries Parent Portal.
-
Windows for 2026-2027:
-
Open Enrollment: January 14 – February 27, 2026. (Approved transfers are generally ongoing but subject to annual displacement if the school becomes impacted).
-
Post-Open Enrollment: March 2 – December 4, 2026. (Valid for one school year only; these must be renewed annually).
-
2. Interdistrict Transfers (District to District)
For families moving INTO or OUT OF the Romoland School District.
-
Coming INTO RSD: Begin the process by requesting a "Release Permit" from your District of Residence. Once they approve the release, they will send the paperwork to RSD for our review.
-
Leaving RSD: Download the "Interdistrict Transfer Form" from the Resources section (right) or visit the District Office (Pupil Services) for a printed copy to request a release from Romoland.
-
Validity: Approved Interdistrict transfers are valid for one school year only and must be submitted annually.
II. Terms of Maintenance
Approval is subject to space availability within programs, grade levels, and school sites. Once approved, a transfer is a conditional agreement that may be revoked at any time for any of the following reasons:
-
Attendance: Student is excessively tardy, is absent from school, or is dropped off/picked up outside of designated school hours.
-
Behavior: Student fails to uphold appropriate behavior standards or citizenship.
-
Academics: Student fails to make appropriate academic efforts (Education Code 35160.5).
-
Impact (Capacity): Insufficient space in the school and/or grade level due to enrollment growth.
Notice of Revocation
If a transfer is revoked, the District or School Site will issue a 10-Day Drop Letter. This serves as formal notice that the student will be disenrolled. Parents/guardians must enroll the student in their assigned school of residence by the end of this 10-day period to ensure no gap in educational services.
