Next Generation Science Standards
The State of California and Romoland School District will be embarking on a three year implementation plan of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in the 2016-17 school year. Over the last fifteen years major advances in science and our understanding of how students learn science have taken place and need to be reflected in our state standards. Next Generation Science Standards were designed by scientists and educators to be rich in content and practice, aligned with curricula, pedagogy, assessment, and teacher preparation and development. As part of the educational reform initiatives taking place across the country, California has embarked on the implementation of Next Generation Science Standards on the heels Common Core State Standards in both English language arts and mathematics.
