Dear Parents/Guardians and Students!
Hello, my name is Ms. Plummer and I am so excited to be the School Counselor at Romoland Elementary School. I have worked at a variety of schools across California ranging from TK-12 grade. I received my BA at California State University, Long Beach, and my Masters of Education at Concordia University of Irvine. I believe in empowering students through a comprehensive ASCA counseling program to promote academic success.
What is a school counselor?A school counselor is a counselor and educator who works in schools to address the social-emotional, academic, and college and career needs of all students. The role of the school counselor is to counsel, consult, and collaborate with students, parents/guardians, staff, administration, and other stakeholders to ensure that all students have access to a comprehensive school counseling program.
All students will receive core curriculum lessons in their class once per month. Short-term individual and group counseling services are available to students in need. ‘Need’ is determined by attendance, academic, and behavior data as well as self, teacher, or parent referral. Should a student/family have a greater need for services, the school counselor will provide information/referral for additional school and community resources.
