Early Childhood Education
The goal for Early Childhood Education programs is school readiness and lifelong success for our students and families. All preschool aged classrooms maintain a 1:8 staff-child ratio. Teachers have degrees in Early Childhood Education or a related field. All instructional aides have training and college course work specific to early childhood education. Each classroom is designed for individual and group learning opportunities. Throughout the school year instructional staff work on individualized goals for social and educational growth for each student.
As a partipating program of Quality Start Riverside, all three of our school sites benefit from supports that have been put in place by the State of California for the purpose of provding learning environments that are of the highest quality to our earliest learners. Currently, all three of our sites are tiered at a "Tier 4," which is an indicator that Romoland School District not only follows state compliance, but best practices for early childhood.
Our adopted curriculum is High Scope, which is a research based curriculum that is used nation wide as a curriculum as well as a practice. This curriculum supports all students and supports inclusive practices as well.
Time to Come In, Bear: A Children’s Story About Social Distancing is an animated children’s book that was written by Kim St. Lawrence, and narrated by her husband, Ryan. They shared it with the world to help young children process the many changes that have altered their daily routines—including the reasoning behind the term, “social distancing.”
All currently enrolled early childhood students are participating in optional distance learning opportunities. Teachers are communicating with families via Learning Genie and Google Hangouts. Students are having one-on-one weekly checkins with their teachers and small group social time with classmates. We are so proud of our families as they, overnight, transitioned into the role of an early childhood educator. You got this! We are here for you.
