Instructional Strategies

  • Instructional strategies include all approaches that a teacher may take to actively engage students in the learning process. These strategies drive a teacher's instruction as they work to meet learning objectives. Effective instructional strategies are those that give the teacher the ability to adapt and personalize instruction for each student. Teachers that are equipped with a well-rounded arsenal of effective instructional strategies maximize their effectiveness and increase student learning opportunities.

Teachers are best served when they utilize a variety of instructional strategies as opposed to just one or two. Variety helps to ensure that students do not become bored or complacent with their instruction. It also ensures that students will likely be exposed to strategies that align with their individual learning style. Students will enjoy being taught with a variety of instructional strategies and thus are likely to stay engaged longer.

There are a number of instructional strategies that are regularly employed in classrooms across Romoland School District. Those strategies are listed under "Resources" to the right of this page.
