Principal's Message

  • Mr. Mitchem Dear Boulder Ridge Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2020/21 school year! I never thought my 5th year would start like this, but I could not be more excited to continue working with the amazing community that is Boulder Ridge! It has been quite a wild ride for all of us over the last 4 months! I am very honored to work in a district that has offered such a variety of educational opportunities to our stakeholders in regard to the best instructional model that fits their students, and with such an amazing, caring, and supportive group of teachers who spent the last 4 months learning, and growing in preparation for this school year. While we will ALL be starting the year in a virtual learning environment, I am confident that our teachers are well prepared and excited to meet the needs of all of our learners. Our teachers have undergone professional development in the realm of social-emotional learning, as well as on the intricacies of virtual learning, and are ready for the year to begin!

The word of our year is Grace! Here at Boulder, we understand that while this is certainly new for us, it is also new for each and every one of our students, families, and community members. Our teachers, office staff, custodial, and classified employees are here to help. These amazing staff members are working collaboratively to not only meet the academic and social-emotional needs of our students and families but are working to create a positive virtual environment where we all take care of each other. We will utilize virtual office hours where parents/ guardians will be able to chat openly with the school administration about any needs they may have. Because we cannot be out before and after school giving high fives, and smiles, we want to ensure that we are available before and after school electronically for both our students and their families.

Families, you are not alone, we are here to help, support, guide, encourage, and educate you all as well as your students. Throughout the year, we will be offering a number of learning opportunities for families to help understand the educational content their students are learning, as well as to provide information and resources to help in any way that our community needs. It is imperative that you know that the goal of our teachers is to be the best educator and support system that your child has had, and yes, this will look very different this year, but I am certain our teachers are up to the challenge.

At Boulder Ridge, we will continue year three of The Leader in Me! We will be continuing to provide education, resources, and activities to both you and your students that are related to The Leader in Me and the 7 Habits! During daily instruction, and through the use of interactive leadership notebooks, data tracking, and goal setting our students will begin to see, now, more than ever, their leadership potential and the power that they all hold to be leaders!

While we may start the school year away from our campus, we are not starting the school year away from our students! At Boulder, we are a family, we are a team, and together we will make this one of the best school years that we have seen!

Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or e-mail throughout the school year. My goal this year is to work even more closely with our community to ensure that the needs of our community are met. I am looking forward to a great 20/21 school year!
